Why this mailing list?

Recently there have been discussions of licenses for free
hardware designs going on across 5 different mailing lists,
with large amounts of cross-posting. 

In the hope that this could be better organised, annoy
fewer people, and reach people who have a real interest
in the topic, I've set up this list. Its intended as a
general service, not tied to any one group. If people
want to use it, fine: it will stay here, and I will try
to support it as best as I can.

I've posted a few emails from other lists to act as 'seeds'
for discussion. For the people who mailed the list before
the archive was set up - sorry, I can't work out how to get
the original mails to appear in the archive!
